Workshop Organized by

Paolo Napoletano, University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, Antonino Nocera, University of Pavia, Italy, Emanuele Storti, University of Politecnica delle Marche, Italy.

Focus

The rapid evolution of Industry 4.0 has driven widespread adoption of smart automation, AI-driven systems, and IoT-based solutions in manufacturing. However, the emergence of Industry 5.0 highlights the necessity of reintroducing human intelligence, collaboration, and well-being at the core of industrial operations. This transition requires frameworks that facilitate seamless integration of humans and digital technologies, ensuring ethical, sustainable, and efficient manufacturing practices. The primary focus of this workshop is to explore how IoE-based solutions can enhance productivity, safety, and well-being in Industry 5.0 environments.

Topics under this session include (but not limited to):

  • Introduction to Industry 5.0 and the Role of IoE: Overview of Industry 5.0 principles and how IoE technologies enable intelligent decision-making, real-time monitoring, and adaptive automation.
  • Human-Centric Automation and AI Integration: How AI-driven automation can enhance human roles rather than replace them, ensuring collaborative intelligence in industrial settings.
  • AI-based solution for self-healing and autonomous IoT: AI-based anomaly detection approaches for IoT, analysis of security concerns for the integration of AI in industries, robust and secure AI solutions for fully distributed approaches.
  • Ethical and Sustainable Manufacturing: Discussing the challenges and opportunities of sustainability, energy efficiency, and worker well-being in future manufacturing environments.
  • Case Studies and Practical Implementations: Demonstrating real-world applications of IoE-based frameworks in different industrial domains, highlighting successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Interactive Panel Discussion: Engaging industry experts, researchers, and attendees in a discussion on the future of Industry 5.0, the role of policymakers, and the challenges ahead.
  • Hands-on Demonstration or Simulation (if applicable): Participants will have the opportunity to interact with prototype systems, digital twins, or simulation environments that illustrate IoE-based integration in a smart manufacturing ecosystem.
